This exciting and short 3 Days Rwanda Gorilla trekking tour gives you a chance to encounter mountain gorillas in Volcanoes National Park. You get to enjoy this once-in-a-lifetime experience of seeing these gentle giants in their natural habitat. While on this tour, you will visit a reformed poachers’ village nearby (Iby’ Iwachu Cultural Village). On the last day, you have the option to trek golden monkeys before your flight out of Rwanda. The good news is that you can combine it with any safari across East Africa!

Day 1: Arrival, and Transfer from Kigali to Volcanoes National Park

Arrive at Kigali International Airport on a morning flight (before 2:00 pm) and after finalizing the formalities, you shall be welcomed by your guide who will transfer you to Volcanoes National Park. The journey goes through the beautiful terraced hillsides that show much of Rwanda’s landscape, gradually climbing to the base of the awesome Virunga Volcanoes, sometimes with as many as five peaks visible. Proceed to the lodge for check-in.

Day 2: Gorilla Trekking

Today you will get up early and drive to Volcanoes National Park. Proceed to headquarters for a briefing and after that set off in the forest for gorilla trekking. A thrilling trek through the refined foothills of the Virungas led by an experienced ranger guide provides inspiring views in all directions. Gorilla trekking is quite strenuous but a worthwhile encounter for these gentle giants. Depending on the location of the gorillas on any given day, the walk can take anything from 1 to 7 hours. Once the family of gorillas has been located, settle into the environment and enjoy the hour you have to quietly observe these fascinating primates whose habits and mannerisms remind us so much of our own. In the afternoon, visit the Iby’ Iwachu Cultural Village, a beautiful project employing and empowering the community and providing alternatives to poaching, and enjoy an evening of entertainment.
